Holsteiner sport horses

Willpower and resilience

Holstein show jumping horse breeding occupies a top position worldwide. Holsteiner sport horses are also leaders in the disciplines of dressage and eventing. Those who grow up in the marshes with wind and weather are robust and adaptable. The uncomplicated, balanced and reliable nature of Holstein horses is therefore appreciated all over the world. Also at the Constanzehof in the heart of the Holsteiner breeding area. We love the land behind the dyke near the North Sea just as much as our horses with their strong character. The typical Holsteiner is characterised by strong nerves and enthusiasm. Its strength of character is a decisive quality feature in sporting competition.

The Holsteiner’s expressiveness, willpower and inner stability not only benefit riders with sporting ambitions. The athletic, large-lined warmbloods have excellent jumping ability, a long walk, ground-covering trot and lively canter. This makes them suitable for use in dressage, show jumping and eventing.

Holsteins, whose history can be traced back to the 13th century, were originally used for commercial purposes, e.g. in agriculture or as carriage horses. Here, too, they were highly valued for their hardiness and willingness to perform. It was not until the middle of the 20th century that Holsteins were bred into sport horses, primarily through breeding with English thoroughbred stallions.
